EXTRA FRESH

Every now and then a sneaker comes around that you feel privileged to own.  A sneaker that is so fresh  that you feel like a new person when you put them on.  This is how I felt when I found the Nike Air Royal in antique brown.

I copped these at Takeover in Montclair on Bloomfield Ave.  A great spot.  They have a really nice selection, especially if you are a sneakerhead.  They always seem to have new stuff coming in and every time I go in there I always find something extra fresh.  This is the kind of store  Montclair needed.  A place with a lot of flavor and diversity similar to the town's real residents.  Not the yuppies who seem to be really trying to "takeover".

These sneakers have become the most comfortable kicks I have ever had.  The leather is so soft it really does eventually mold to your foot.  These can also be kept nice with an occasional wipe down and shine.  They look even nicer in person.

It was hard to think of a beer that could compliment these puppies.  I really had to go the extra mile.  After a lot of thinking, I came up with the beer that I think could be considered an equal.  A beer that already came from an amazing foundation, but added that extra freshness.  Of course I am talking about Guinness Foreign Extra.

Guinness really raised the standard with this stout.  It is well-rounded and full-flavored while still managing to be subtle.  Out of all the stout's I have tasted, this is in a class all by itself.   You can't call yourself a real Guinness fan until you have tried this.  It is hard to come by, but when you have the opportunity do not hesitate regardless of the price.

Lovely day for a Guinness.

TUMBLING TIMBS

For this intallment I decided to start with a beer and see where it takes me.  These are the same words I often use when I get my first drink at Happy Hour.  I know it is the dead of winter and all but recently I have been longing for Autumn.  Maybe it has been the change in weather  but I have really been craving a Tumbler.

Sierra Nevada Tumbler Autumn Brown Ale, is one of my favorite beers no matter what season it is.  The few times I have stumbled across it (sometimes literally) on tap it is easily one of the cleanest beers to ever grace my palette.

As far as Brown's go there is only one other I can think of that is in the same category(STAY TUNED)

As long as we are discussing how much I miss the fall right now, why not discuss the perfect kicks for the season.  Of course I am talking about Timberland's.

Pictured above are the Yele Haiti Timberland's.  You guys may remember the song "Yele" by Wyclef Jean.  The word Yele was created by Clef for his native country of Haiti.  It means Cry Freedom.

Wyclef and Timberland collaborated on these as a part of the extensive charity work he has taken on in recent years.

The Timberland Yele Haiti Earthkeepers are a collection of 16 boots designed for men, women and kids, using recycled and organic materials with the goal of raising awareness about environmental causes in Wyclef's native Haiti.

Named for the artist's Yele Haiti organization—a charitable grassroots movement working to implement programs in education, sports, the arts and the environment—the eco-conscious footwear specifically aims to call attention to reforestation in the country.

Not only are these nice to look at, they are for a  really interesting and important cause.

I had no idea before writing this that these Timberland's were anything more than just a beautiful pair of boots.   You learn something every day.  I wanted a pair before but now there is no doubt in my mind I will be adding these to my cart.

I know this installment is a little bit out of left field and doesn't necessarily make much sense but this is my blog so if you don't like it KICK ROCKS or get TIMBERLAND STOMPED.  Plus you have to admit it looks nice and the colors match.

Cheers.
Peace.
Yele.

SOUTH BEACH

For our next installment of SHOESANDBREWS, we are headed down to one of my favorite places, South Beach, Miami.  When you think of Miami you can't help but picture palm trees, beautiful women and the beaches.  Me being the sneakerhead that I am, I always picture these as well.

The Nike Lebron P.S. Elite "South Beach"  God these are pretty.   You can even make them in NBA2K13

Me and two of my best friends were lucky enough to go to South Beach Superbowl weekend 09'.

If you don't remember this was when Who Dat Nation finally got what they deserved and beat Peyton Manning's Colts.  It was that weekend that I discovered The Abbey Brewing Co.

This place is great.  It's a bit off the beaten path but that is one of the reason's we love it.  It is a local spot where the atmosphere is really chill.  AND THE BEER!!!!  Amazing.  They brew their own stuff and it rules, but they also have a great selection of Imported and Craft beers on tap as well as a huge selection of bottles.  Next time you are down in Miami I highly recommend you stop by.  You will not be disappointed.  We sure as hell weren't.
